Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I have reduced suction or suspect a clog in my ProForce 1200XP or 1500XP?

1. Disconnect the lower air duct hose on the back of the power nozzle. Visually check the lower air duct hose for debris and remove.

2. To check for unobstructed air flow, turn on vacuum and place hand over opening on lower air duct. If you feel proper suction, resume vacuuming, otherwise proceed with step 3.

3. With bottom air duct hose and upper hose and wand disconnected, carefully insert a broom handle (or any similar item) into wand on top of vacuum housing to dislodge obstruction or debris. Debris should then drop or move into the lower air duct hose where you can then remove it.

Obstructions such as hair, string, and throw rugs may cause the belt to dislocate and the power nozzle to shut off. Reduced suction can be caused by a clog in the vacuum and/or dirty filters. We recommend watching our Upright Vacuum Maintenance video on our YouTube channel.

Why does this vacuum have a reset button?

The upright vacuum is designed to require a reset after a clog or if the brush roll has been jammed. If you need to reset your vacuum frequently it could mean you have a clog or something is blocking the movement of your brush roll. This feature of the vacuum keeps damage from occurring to your brush roll motor or brush roll when there is an obstruction and helps to prolong the lifespan of your vacuum.

What to do if I'm having brush roll issues?

1. The brush roll will only work in switch II. Plug vacuum in, Take vacuum out of park position, and turn on position II.

2. The brush roll belt may be disengaged from the vacuum or the belt may be worn out. Please check the integrity of the belt by removing power nozzle cover.

4. Wand assembly not fully seated into the receptacle. If wand is not fully inserted into the wand receptacle, brush roll will not work.

5. There may be blockage or debris and tangled hair stuck in the brush roll. Make sure that brush roll is clear to spin freely.

6. Reset switch has been tripped. Make sure to press the red reset button located in the vacuum power nozzle then unplug the vacuum from the outlet, plug it back in and it should work.

What should I do if I'm having issues with the latch?

In order to close the filter cover, the hole in the carry handle must be aligned to the hole in the handle tube, with hardware completely installed. We have an instructional video available on our YouTube channel titled "ProTeam Tutorial: Upright Preparing for Operation that describes how to assemble the ProForce upright vacuum. It does show an older model but explains how the carry handle should be lined up.
